Stranded in Mexico, broke artist Jimmy Hudson (Cary Grant) crosses paths with opera singer Louise Fuller (Grace Moore), who’s stuck in the same town due to visa issues. Desperate to return to New York and her career, Louise offers Jimmy $2,000 to marry her so she can re-enter the U.S. What begins as a marriage of convenience turns into something more, as the two continue to cross paths, exchanging witty barbs — and gradually falling for each other.
