After serving in World War I, two army buddies (John Payne and Jack Oakie) become partners in the burgeoning world of radio broadcasting. But the pair’s smalltime operation is quickly squashed, prompting Payne’s singing star wife (Alice Faye) to hit up an old flame (Cesar Romero) for a loan. When Payne and Faye break up, it’s up to Oakie to reunite them during what becomes the first ever coast-to-coast radio show.
