David Cummings, a vagrant, is bailed out of prison by Philip Cagle, an lawyer, who hires him to impersonate a missing millionaire, whose existence is essential so as to disperse a $3,000,000 estate. Cummings’ masquerade involves deceiving the lost man’s wife, his brother and the brother’s wife. Cagle, needing to eliminate Cummings, sets activities in drama that ends in murder, attempted murder and the entombment of Cummings. Could he dig his way out and put things right?
