Hélène knows that Jean does not love her anymore. She’s filled with despair and anger, and she begins brooding on revenge. Jean is alleviated, because he believes they can function as friends. Hélène belongs to a night club, in which a young lady, Agnès, is a renowned dancer. Agnés was forced to this life of debauchery and courtesanship due to poverty. She hates it and all of the lecherous men. Hélène has fulfilled Agnès along with her mother many years back, and after the show that she looks up them. She states that she’ll enable them to depart this life that is sober. The following day that they will proceed to an apartment she’s leased, and remain there anonymously. Some days after she arranges a seemingly spontaneous assembly between Jean and Agnès from the Bois de Boulogne.
