Based on a true historical event, this is the story of Frosyni, a genteel woman who lived in the city of Yannena, Epirus in the late 18th century, a time when Greece was part of the Ottoman Empire. Frosyni had a love affair with Muhtar, the son of Ali Pasha, Turkish ruler of the area and this affair cost her life as she was drowned by Ali’s men (along with 17 more women) in the city’s lake in 1801.
