The film deals with Handel’s life and work in London between the years 1727 and the composition of Messiah in 1741. Produced originally in 1942 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first performance of that work, the film was shot in Technicolor and character actor Wilfrid Lawson revels in re-creating a definitive image of the great composer.
