The Thing (1982)
An American scientific expedition to the frozen wastes of the Antarctic is interrupted by a group of seemingly mad Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog. The helicopter pursuing the dog explodes, eventually leaving no explanation for the chase. During the night, the dog mutates and attacks other dogs in the cage and members of the team that investigate. The team soon realizes that an alien life-form with the ability to take over other bodies is on the loose and they don’t know who may already have been taken over.

Jessie McMullen (Sean Connery) is a widower, a tough guy and most of all, proud of his past as a career criminal (now semi-retired). He raised his son Vito (Dustin Hoffman) to follow in his footsteps, but Vito went straight once he had a son of his own, Adam (Matthew Broderick). Over the years, Vito became ashamed of his family’s criminal past. He has tried to raise his son right, which in his mind means keeping young Adam away from his deadbeat grandfather. Little does Vito know that this strategy has backfired; the mystery surrounding Jessie has caused Adam to idolize him.

Trash, a psychopathic bomb-maker and his equally psychopathic preschool son and an annoying activist help him out by kidnapping “the President” (of the corporation), a Richard Dreyfuss look-alike. Henry Silva plays another psychopath, this one on the side of the corporations. A favorite movie of Mystery Science Theater 3000 series.

The Count has claimed the human Doris (who wields a mean cutlass herself) as his bride. D becomes her protector and–when she’s captured by the Count’s shape-shifting minions–her savior.
