After the boat San Luis creates a stop in the interface of Barranca, to provide mailbags and load bananas, cabaret singer Bonnie Lee leaves the ship for a number of hours to look around. She meets a bunch of American flyers, that works for a warm-hearted Dutchman. He’s the owner of a scrubby resort, but also of those rickety Barranca Airways, direct by the challenging flyer Geoff Carter. The only way to fly from Barranca is via a profound pass at 14.000 ft over the ground. Since the weather is frequently stormy and foggy, the flights are really hard, and many flyers have lost their lives. Bonnie falls in love with Geoff, who reminds her of her dad, a trapeze artist that functioned without security net. She decides to leave the ship and stay in the resort. But Geoff is fearful of being arrested by a woman. He would like to keep his insecure lifestyle uninterrupted.
