N. Took the Dice (1971) Alain Robbe-Grillet, Catherine Jourdan, Pierre Zimmer, Richard Leduc, Lorraine Rainer, Drama, Horror

May 18, 2018

A reshuffling of Grillet’s Eden and afterwards, the name an anagram of the film, and also the scenes rearranged in an identical arbitrary manner within an experiment to find out what new narrative or structure appears. A guy narrates, throws the dice, and also we see the arbitrary scenes related to the throw, combined with different out-takes from this film as new details emerge. Specifically, scenes of those pupils in the club are all spliced together with the hallucinatory and dream scenes in Tunisia to draw parellels. That is the concept. In practice, this can be a nonsensical film created even more ridiculous in a practice of pure whim, fascination and experimentation.
