In 1774, Marie-Antoinette, wife of the dauphin, heavy and clumsy, stunned and had fun alone and incognito, like a child, at the Opera ball. There she meets a young Swedish officer, the Count of Fersen, who has the most unfailing love for her. A few months after this meeting, the Dauphin and the Dauphine accede to the throne of France. Both, too young to rule and take overwhelming succession, will be overwhelmed and dominated by events.
