A chess grandmaster is at a huge tournament, and if his lover has been found painted and the blood drained from her body he becomes a main suspect. After he receives a call from the killer urging him to attempt to find out the match he cooperates with authorities along with a psychologist to attempt to catch the killer, however, doubts linger about the grandmaster’s innocence because the series of grisly murders continues.
