Dependent on the Noh play with the identical title, The Iron Crown is about a girl plotting revenge against her husband that leaves her for a younger girl. Shindo’s adaptation juxtaposes the Noh play with a contemporary update of this narrative. The husband is now a car salesman, the young girl a typist. The spouse gets her revenge by harassing the bunch together with unwanted phone calls through the night.
