In 1913, after a study tour in Europe, the painter Francisco Goitia returns to his homeland, Zacatecas, to find the disturbed reality in Mexico because of the Revolution.
The artist captures in his art the destruction and horror that war leaves behind. Goitia faces poverty, unemployment and neglect. Thus, periods of artistic creation mix with periods of emotional disturbances. Finally, after sinking into a deep existential crisis, the protagonist takes refuge in a spiritual quest to release him from his own demons.
Francisco Goitia was one of the greatest Mexican artists of the late 19th early 20th century.
