At the end of the war George Harper (George Formby) is demobbed out of the army and returns to run the pub that he owns, The Unicorn. George and his friend ‘Fingers’ try to get the rundown pub back up and running but face stiff competition from a rival pub on the other side of the river, The Lion. To make matters even more complicated George is in love with the pretty girl who works at the rival pub.
