Forest of Oppression AKA Assatsu no mori (1967) Shinsuke Ogawa

The Oppressed Students focuses on the phenomenon of the struggle of university students for various political purposes, especially the resistance against imperialist measures in Japan in the 1960s. Shinsuke Ogawa films the reality of students oppressed by the police and administrative forces, especially at the city’s University of Economics Takasaki. The public was shocked by the vigor and violence of such protests, coming from such a small university.
