In this romantic comedy, Deke Gentry (Kirk Douglas) is a lawyer who receives an odd mission from Chloe Brasher (Thelma Ritter), a wealthy widow, proprietor of a thriving resort chain, and among his most prominent customers. Chloe has three brothers, thoughtful Kate (Mitzi Gaynor), bohemian Jan (Leslie Parrish), and heath food enthusiast Bonnie (Julie Newmar), and she desires Deke to find them husbands. Although Deke protests that matchmaking is out his traditional field of experience, Chloe is insistent, and he ends up taking the task. To be confident he’s going through with it, Chloe awakens her safety leader Joe (William Bendix) to maintain his eye Deke. Finally, Deke fixes up Bonnie using Harvey Wofford (Richard Sargent), a smallish IRS representative, also pairs Jan with celebrity Sam Travis (William Windom), but Kate ends up to be the toughest Brasher sister to wed off, until he yells his own hat into the ring. Richard Sargent would afterwards shorten his first title to Dick and find success on the popular television comedy Bewitched.
