When AIDS spread in the media public in the mid-1980s, the reaction ranged from helpless to radical. A certain Horst Seehofer wants to “concentrate” infected people in “special homes”, the disease penetrates the collective perception as “gay plague”. Rosa von Praunheim responds to fear, massive exclusion and moralizing with a garish, deep black comedy, at the end of which everyone will have been infected and the night nurses will roll the dice to see who dies first. With his film, the activist becomes a pioneer in HIV prevention and fights against ignorance, even within his own ranks.
