Dimka AKA Ya kupil papu (1963) Ilya Frez, Aleksei Zagorsky, Olga Lysenko, Vladimir Treshchalov

It’s the story of a boy named Dimka (Alyosha Zagorsky), the young son of a lovely young widowed woman (Olga Lysenko) who is taking work as a typist. A shy, introverted child, Dimka yearns to have a father, someone who can “man him up” for sports games at school like the other boys have. In one of the movie’s most memorable sequences, he dreams that fathers can be bought at downtown department stores, where male mannikins are displayed in store windows, and that one of these handsome mannikins agrees to be his father. Real life proves a little more problematical for Dimka and his mother, but it’s also kind to them before the story is over.

Also Known As (AKA): Me Compre um Papa, I Bought a Father, I’ve Bought Myself a Father
