Diary AKA Tagebuch (1975) Rudolf Thome, Angelika Kettelhack, Cynthia Beatt

Eduard (Rudolf Thome) is married to Charlotte (Angelika Kettelhack), both are in their early thirties, they have no children. He works to earn money for his photography. His wish is to publish an illustrated book about Berlin – pictures of houses “and also text” describes the grumpy photographer. Charlotte works in a political bookstore and occasionally writes articles. Indifference seems to be the greatest common denominator in their relationship. He wants a divorce, she thinks it’s stupid as long as there is no better partner in sight. Even the conversation about a possible divorce between the two protagonists is characterized by sobriety. In Kreuzberg, Eduard can then rent a factory floor cheaply for his work. His friend Otto (Holger Henze), who has traveled from Munich and lives with them, helps him with the move. Charlotte also gets support and invites Ottilie (Cynthia Beatt) with whom she traveled half the world years ago. The encounters create new bonds. So Otto finally travels to Portugal with Charlotte and Eduard and Ottilie also fall in love and come together.
