Portugal by the end of the 40’s. André escapes from jail and has to leave the country. In Oporto, some of his friends find him a guide, a drunken quarrelsome smuggler named Lambaça, who knows Trás-os-Montes border well.
They dislike each other immediately. During five days and five nights, crossing mountains and valleys, hiding themselves from the guard and the political police, helped by some friends, including the beautiful Zulmira, the two men will have time to know each other a lot better.
But the initial antipathy and suspicion grows weaker as these men are about to say goodbye, and between them will rise a friendship that neither of them will ever forget.
