Mario Ilari, a young unemployed worker, is wrongly accused of killing a girl, friend of his. Once arrested he manages to escape and hide at the home of his cohabitant Gina, but ends up back in prison. Lawyer Roberto Martini agrees to assume his defense after being contacted by Luisa, a friend of Gina, convinced that the trial will give him a chance to assert himself. The situation is, however, very complicated, since Calì, a homeless bum, said he had seen him at the crime scene.
