In a church in Turin, an awkward priest gets killed by a bomb hidden inside a votive candle during the homily. The investigation is carried out by Commissioner Santamaria (Marcello Mastroianni), who soon will direct his attention to the Turin underworld, even though the right track seems to be that of the industrial world.
