Louise Ginglebusher (Durbin) finds herself in New York City after leaving her small town to find work in the big smoke. Scamming her way into a society party, she becomes the unwelcome recipient of the amorous attentions of a glitzy rich fella. Quickly devising an excuse, she pretends that she is married to the lawyer she just met, only to have her story backfire spectacularly.
