The Invisible Woman (1969)
This is not a film. Not like any other, at least. It’s about a mysterious story: mysteries fascinate me and there’s no asking or giving explanations to a mysterious and fascinating fact.

The invisible woman: that is the title of the movie. But it doesn’t mean that this woman is truly invisible. As a matter of fact, she’s visible, not just that, but she has a life of her own, she does tangible things, nevertheless, she doesn’t exist. She doesn’t exist in her husband’s eyes, she doesn’t exist for the others who don’t notice she’s there, present, among them…
Let’s say that there are three female characters. But there could be two instead since one character, that played by Gravina, I’m not sure she really exists… The invisible woman does exist. Her husband doesn’t see her but she exists. The other characters don’t see her but she exists. Even though, later on, she becomes nonexistent, but that’s a mysterious fact and I feel the need to introduce a new element to Italian cinema. Reality always on the verge of unreality, events, things, people who become invisible, unreal, who exist and don’t exist, all this is, in my opinion, absolutely engrossing and convincing. To such an extent that I sometimes wonder whether I even exist myself.
