Marie Antoinette Queen of France / Marie-Antoinette reine de France (1956) Jean Delannoy, Michèle Morgan, Richard Todd, Jacques Morel

In 1774, Marie-Antoinette, wife of the dauphin, heavy and clumsy, stunned and had fun alone and incognito, like a child, at the Opera ball. There she meets a young Swedish officer, the Count of Fersen, who has the most unfailing love for her. A few months after this meeting, the Dauphin and the Dauphine accede to the throne of France. Both, too young to rule and take overwhelming succession, will be overwhelmed and dominated by events. We witness the progress of the daily life of the royal household, the birth of children, the joy of Louis XVI who feared not to have any royal heirs, country feasts at Trianon, budget review, removal from Necker at the request of the young sovereign. Marie-Antoinette, faithful to Louis XVI to whom she shows the greatest friendship and the greatest respect, however sees Fersen again after his return from America. The revolution is brewing. The royal family is brought back from Versailles to the Tuileries.
