Kay Francis plays Belinda Warren, the trusting plaything of a titled Englishman (Patric Knowles) with an invalid wife. Belinda gives birth to their child, and then lets her caddish lover adopt the baby. Later she marries a good man (George Brent), but the memory of her lost child haunts her, threatening to tear her marriage apart.
