An obsession with the life and works of the Marquis de Sade leads a depraved, 1920s-era Japanese count down the path of tragedy and self-destruction in this erotic drama. In order to impress his wealthy, jaded friends, a decadent nobleman hires thieves, prostitutes, and other undesirables to reenact scenes from the notorious writer’s most revered works. In time, however, simply watching the performances isn’t enough to fulfill the nobleman’s fantasies. Threatening the performers with death should they refuse to make love to his wife while he watches, the nobleman sinks deeper and deeper into his fantasy world of debauchery, even as his degenerate actions threaten dire consequences for all involved.

Kike wadatsumi no koe: Nippon senbotsu gakusei shuki is a 1950 black and white Japanese war drama film directed by Hideo Sekigawa and based on the best-seller Listen to the Voices from the Sea. This film is strongly anti-war film. The film is based on the collection of writings by Japanese student soldiers who died during World War II. The film is located to Burma. It shows the everyday problems of soldiers in contrast of their ideas and the cynicism of their commanders. Soldiers are also victims of military bullying by their commanders.

The Angry Street includes a great deal of location shooting in the rebuilt city, including downtown streets, residential neighborhoods, the campus of the University of Tokyo, and the high life of jazzy dance halls. Sudo (Hara Yasumi) and Mori (Uno Jukichi) are two university students who make money by picking up rich girls in dance clubs and conning them into giving them cash. Mori is the brains of the operation, and Sudo is the suave dancer who picks up the girls. Over the course of the film, Sudo becomes involved with three different girls and is drawn into the gangster milieu, which he seems unable to resist even though he is responsible for his mother, grandmother, and sister, Masako (Wakayama Setsuko). In this world of bad boys and girls, Masako is the pillar of strength and moral virtue who finally enables Mori to straighten out.
