As If You Were Never Here (2025) Nandauri

In the dead of night, a strange woman arrives in a forgotten village in northern Georgia. Marina, an Israeli lawyer who has spent her life in denial about her past and identity, returns to Georgia to bring back to Israel an 11-year-old boy who was abandoned by his mother Nino as a baby. She meets Dato (Nino’s brother) who has cared for the boy his entire life. Despite the hostility she arouses in him, he agrees to help her. The journey of Dato and Marina, two strangers, melts the walls of alienation and anger and changes their perspective on the world and themselves.

Gela returns home from the city, blames himself for the accident and is profoundly repentant.

In an off-beat story told in three acts and an epilogue, a young writer tries unsuccessfully to get his manuscript titled “The Blue Mountains” published, revealing some very incompetent office types in the process. When the writer walks into the publishing house in Tbilisi, he first tries to find the right person to read his work and consider it for publication. In one office after another, the manuscript is taken but ignored because the reader had something better or more pressing or more interesting to do in the meantime. Just about ready to give up, the discouraged writer notices a crack in the ceiling of the publisher’s building that portends an enormous disaster unless the structural flaw is fixed. Like their attitude toward his manuscript, there is always something better or more urgent to do, and the small crack is ignored – with disastrous results.
