Domenico and Antonietta are two suburban Italian youths who meet while seeking “a job for life” from a big city corporation. After a bizarre screening process made up of written exams, physical agility exercises, and interview questions such as “Do you drink to forget your troubles?” (Domenico and Antonietta are no older than 17 or 18), they land jobs in the “Technical Division” and “Typing Services” respectively. From there, Domenico works as an underutilized errand boy until a clerk position is vacated by the death of an older employee. Domenico finally takes his place in a room of 12 other clerks with a manager overseeing them from a desk at the head of the room. The film ends as Domenico ponders his fate, from behind his tiny desk at the back of the small windowless room, listening to the sound of the mimeograph machine as it runs off carbon copies next to the manager’s desk.

A young Western student, of unusual candor, due to a misunderstanding of address, is led to a theater-brothel for customers inclined to strong and transgressive emotions.
It’s enough to cross the threshold that reality and magic of theater are confused up to abandonment and dream.
An actor, in the guise of an old captain of a vaguely Spanish seamanship, comes on the stage, which reproduces the deck of a Chinese junk, to tell the story of a famous pirate woman: the Widow Ching. The husband of this woman was the admiral of a powerful pirate fleet, backed by a Society of Anonymous Shareholders, which obtained large profits from it.
The generals of the Emperor, in order to eradicate the scourge of the widespread thievery, offered Admiral Ching the Imperial forgiveness by appointing him Supreme Head of the Royal Corsairs in exchange for his submission to the Government.
But because of big interests at stake, the ‘conversion’ of Admiral Ching is punished by the offended Shareholders by mean of a poisoned carp that gets rid of him.
The Widow, shocked and outraged by the double betrayal, vows revenge and convinces her crews to reject any other offer and to devote themselves on their own to boardings and looting.
And such is her ruthlessness that she assaults even commercial vessels under imperial protection…

As celebrated Italian director Ermanno Olmi’s self-declared final work, the feature 100 Nails (AKA Centochiodi, 2007) attempts to weave a narrative around a contemporary figure who harbors the humanity of Christ. In a startling prologue, the overseer of an ancient library screams out in horror and summons the cops when he discovers that some degenerate has nailed 100 rare manuscripts to the floor with giant railroad spikes, comparable to the ones used to nail Jesus to the cross. As the authorities conduct their investigation, the film then flashes back to events that unfolded over the course of the prior day. An unnamed philosophy professor at Bologna University (Raz Degan) wraps up the tail of the semester and leaves his students behind, including a young Indian woman who penned a thesis on women and religion – the work asserting that organized religion is of utmost importance in her familial culture. The professor climbs into his BMW and drives out of Bologna and into the countryside, where he reaches the Po River and a dilapidated peasant house. Journeying into a local village, he finds its residents far warmer and more welcoming than his colleagues and students at the university; indeed, they first help him fix up the ruined house, then turn to him as an activist and seek his help protecting their threatened community center. He not only becomes a Christlike figure to the locals, but takes a pointed stand against what the film presents as the intellectual decreptitude of the Catholic church, with his intense and seemingly limitless love of humanity.
