Joe O’Hara, a hard fighter, wants the championship title for the money to finance the concert pianist career of his brother Mike, who also could be a good fighter. When Joe fights the title bout someone tells his opponent, Tiger Johnson, that one of his eyes is bad and Johnson works on it until Joe loses the fight and his eyesight. Mike is enraged and starts training for the ring. He works himself up to the title bout with Tiger Johnson.

Carol likes her boss, but does not get involved with him as so many other secretaries would. She instead falls for a poor riveter and leaves to be married. She soon finds that the poor riveter is the son of Dan Kingdon and is loaded. When she gets her pretty ex-roommate a job as Bart’s secretary, she now has to stand by her convictions as she “trusts” Diane. Aunt Agatha does not and tells Carol that she is foolish.

Crotchety hospital administrator Peter Melady, self-proclaimed developer of a new wonder anaesthetic, is about to undergo a delicate operation to be performed by the glib Dr. Leo Harrigan, Melady’s longtime mutual adversary. Police are called when the murdered body of Harrigan is found in an elevator, and Melady, last seen being wheeled on a gurney to surgery by Harrigan, has disappeared.
