Set in the Tang Dynasty, the plot concerns an engaged couple, Chu Chung and Liu Su-su, who encounter numerous fantastical adventures after meeting Reverend Wick (Shing Fui-on), a cleric who can shrink himself to the size of an atom. Exploring an abandoned shack, Chu Chung finds a painting which is a gateway to another world, where he meets three beautiful maidens. One of them, Yun I-meng (Pauline Chan), seduces him as part of an evil plot to overthrow the god Chia Yuan (William Ho). Chu is told that Chia Yuan is a rapist and had kidnapped I-meng — lies which lead him to believe that the god is evil and murder him. The whole thing is being engineered by a female demon called Vixen, who wants to cannibalize Chia Yuan to obtain his powerful source of Yang energy. The repentant I-meng sees the error of her ways and helps Chu get back home to his world, but his beloved Su-su gets trapped in the other dimension, leading Chu and Reverend Wick to attempt a daring rescue mission.

Francis Ng stars as Chic, who helps his friend Che (Ngai Sing), a Taoist ghostbuster, with various assignments. They both owe gambling debts to the nasty mobster Rabid Hsiung (Tommy Wong), so they’re in desperate need of money, leading them to take on a request from the elderly Taoist master Tang (Richard Ng) to help him capture the Banana Spirit. On a late-night search, the trio is frightened by a demon as well as awakening the Banana Spirit, Muyung Yu-Yu, who takes the earthly form of a beautiful model and seduces Chic. Chic and the ghost become lovers, and she saves his life when he is shot at by mobsters as well as helping him win a great deal of money at one of Rabid Hsiung’s casinos. Hsiung figures out that Yu-Yu has special powers, which he attempts to use for his own benefit, but Chic kills him before he can realize his plans. Unfortunately, Hsiung rises from the grave as a clownish evil spirit looking for revenge, and Yu-Yu’s allotted time on Earth is quickly running out. Lam Ching-ying and Yip Wing-cho co-star in the lively romp.

The second is about a convenience store owner (Eric Kot Man Fai) who is troubled by the return of an old lover whom he jilted years before. Semi-experimental in approach, the film explores similar themes to Wong’s highly visual romantic style whilst also showcasing the director’s unique voice and creativity.
