During World War II, just before the events of August 23rd 1944, a German soldier is found murdered in a Romanian village. The dead soldier’s superior threatens the villagers that unless the perpetrator is handed over by the following morning they will all face reprisals. In order to avoid this, the village intellectuals try to convince Ipu, the village idiot, to take the blame for the murder and save them.

A Romanian peasant is visiting his friend Gogu who works at a hotel on the Black Sea Riviera.At the same hotel the rich American businessman, Mr.Juvett, with many mob enemies on his tail,is mistaken for the peasant Nea Marin,due to their perfect resemblance.The American mob has a contract on Mr. Juvett’s life and hit-men have followed him to Romania.Unfortunatelly for Nea Marin he is thrown into Mr. Juvett’s world and vice-versa,with hilarious consequences.
