This notorious studio adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s 1900 novel The Live Corpse stars John Gilbert as the ill-fated Fedya. After he’s mistaken as dead, his wife Lisa (Eleanor Boardman) and his best friend Victor (Conrad Nagel) decide to marry. However, it turns out that Fedya is still alive, which leads to a bigamy trial for Lisa and, eventually, Fedya’s suicide.
